Top Day Trips for Autumn Exploration

MEPM Property are please to share with you the lastest news from Luštica Bay

When most people hear Montenegro they think turquoise waters, warm summer nights, and delicious food. Indeed, few places can boast relaxation quite like Montenegro – cocooned in warmth and surrounded by breath-taking scenery. However, travellers who visit the country in the off-season, especially during the fall months are in for a special treat. The weather is temperate, the summer crowds are gone and the panoramas are a spectacular symphony of red and gold.

If you find yourself in Montenegro during the Fall, make the most of your time here by going on a few full-day nature trips – all easily reachable from the coast. Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera, you will definitely need it!

Skadar Lake National Park

National Park Skadar Lake, one of five Montenegrin national parks, is less than two hours from Luštica Bay and a perfect spot for spending a sunny autumn day. Simply driving through the park, visiting its small traditional villages, and trying out local delicacies is a treat. We recommend you compliment your explorations with a boat ride or a kayaking cruise of the lake. That way you’ll be able to take in its cultural and natural heritage as you drift past water lily fields, islands, churches (there are 60 monasteries, fortresses and churches around the lake) and secluded beaches.

Skadar Lake is popular destination for bird watchers with a variety of bird watching tours available. As one of the largest bird reserves on the European continent, it is home to over 250 species, including the endangered Dalmatian pelican

Biogradska Gora National Park

National Park Biogradska Gora is part of the Bjelasica Mountain range, and even though it's Montenegro’s smallest national park, it does not lack when it comes to the diversity of its flora and fauna. It’s home to glacier lakes, an ancient forest, and many different species of plant, bird and fish. At the heart of the forest is the biggest glacial lake in the park – Biograd Lake. Rising 1094 meters above sea level the water is so clear it reflects the image of the surrounding trees like a mirror. Excellent for hiking regardless of your fitness level.

So do not discount Montenegro just because the swimming seasons is over. Now is the time to get to know the ‘real’ Montenegro, all close to Luštica Bay!
