Y-Go Alderney Weekender Experience
POA Per Person
REFERENCE: EXP-YG-AL-001
Discover the culture and wildlife of Channel Island Alderney on the Y-Go Alderney Weekend Experience. You will explore this beautiful island and its charms on foot, discover 5,000 years of history and an abundance of unique wildlife.
Accommodation
You will enjoy 3 nights in the Braye Beach Hotel on the north coast of the island. The Braye Beach Hotel looks out directly over Braye Beach where you will see the fisherman head out for the day. This is the only four star hotel on the island
You will stay in a sea view double room at Braye Beach hotel (view subject to availability). The rooms are modern with a beachy atmosphere and each has its own substantial ensuite bathroom. The hotel has its own restaurant with a focus on fresh locally sourced ingredients.
Experience
During your Alderney Weekend Experience you will have the chance to get a taste of island life. You will be able to walk the island and discover its unique culture and wildlife. The island is just 3½ miles (5km) by 1½ miles (3km) at its widest point meaning that you can easily hike around it in just a day. But there are 50km of paths and roads to explore within this tiny island, and beautiful sites on the way that will make you stop to learn more.
You will also visit the Alderney museum in Alderney's main town, St Annes, to discover its history. Alderney has been inhabited for at least 5,000 years and the museum displays some interesting Stone Age paraphernalia. Alderney also has significant German and Roman influences on its history as well as a major role during World War II.
The wildlife in Alderney is quite unique. The island has wetland protected status. You can see puffins nesting on parts of the coast as well as cormorants and other sea birds. Bats are also common. A wide variety of diverse flora also graces the island given its mild climate. There are more species of wild flowers on the island than on the whole of the British isles.
MEPM will provide you with a complimentary Alderney lifestyle tour. On the tour you will be able to discover the best places to visit on Alderney. We recommend that you take this tour at the beginning of your Alderney Weekend Experience. You can then use the information you glean to make the most of your visit.

Day 3: Countryside Walk
You can select from a range of walks depending on your preferences and we will provide you with routes and information. The morning will be dedicated to your walks or you can elect to spend it in any way you choose. We recommend taking lunch at The Georgian House on the outskirts of St Anne's.
After lunch you will head towards Braye to catch the 14:30 train to Mannez Station near the Alderney Lighthouse. This train journey only runs at weekends and is an excellent way to see the views from the peak at the centre of the island.
